Biography
Daniel Ahern is Creator Program Lead in the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s Screen Division, where he shapes how the national broadcaster works with digital creators to deliver compelling content for ABC platforms.

As Special Initiatives Lead in the ABC Innovation Lab, Daniel built the ABC Creator Program – one of the first broadcaster-led creator initiatives globally – which in 2024 generated over 90 million views from young Australians and helped leading YouTubers and TikTokers transition into television and podcasting. He also grew the ABC’s flagship TikTok account, expanding its reach and impact among younger audiences.

Daniel leads a cross-functional team of creators, producers, and project managers, overseeing daily editorial cycles and developing platform strategies across owned and third-party channels. He has served as commissioning editor for original YouTube, vertical video, and podcast series, and organised the 2023 and 2024 Futurecast innovation conferences, which drew more than 2,000 industry leaders.

His career spans media leadership, journalism, and law. As Program Director at FBi Radio, he managed 160+ volunteers and eight staff, delivering the station’s highest-ever listenership. He has been a Non-Executive Director of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia, taught UTS’s journalism capstone on Media Innovation, and holds Arts/Law degrees from UNSW, majoring in Political Science with a focus on Media, Intellectual Property, and Technology law.
