Debbie Zhou is a producer and lawyer, based in Sydney. She is currently working as a Graduate Lawyer at Matchbox Pictures, working across both in-house Business & Legal Affairs and Production. Most recently, she was the associate producer on ABC's 8 x 8 minute mini-documentary food series, 8 NIGHTS OUT WEST (2022). In 2022, she was selected as a participant for Screen Australia, SBS & NITV’s Digital Originals Initiative workshops, as well as AFTRS’ NSW Talent Camp. Previously, Debbie worked as the Producers Assistant (Post-Production & Marketing) on the feature film, HERE OUT WEST (Opening Night, Sydney Film Festival 2021); as the post-production clearance coordinator on CLICKBAIT (Netflix, 2021); and on the impact campaigns for Australian documentary, GHOSTHUNTER (2018) and ABC drama, THE HEIGHTS (2019). As a film & theatre critic, she is a Berlinale Talent Press (2020) and Melbourne International Film Festival Critics Campus alumna (2018), having written for publications like The Guardian, Metro magazine, Time Out Sydney & The Saturday Paper, and regularly appears on ABC Sydney and Melbourne radio.
