Biography
Tim Russell is a writer and producer based in Sydney. In 2022, Tim's feature documentary VOLCANO MAN premiered at the 70th Melbourne International Film Festival as part of MIFF's Premiere Fund. Directed by James Crawley, produced by Tim Russell & Rhian Skirving and written by James Crawley, Tim Russell and Steven Sander, the film was a co-production with GoodThing Productions (CLEAN, NITRAM, AUSTRALIAN DREAM), executive produced by Nick Batzias and Virginia Whitwell, and finished 3rd in the MIFF Audience Award 2022. VOLCANO MAN is screening this November in Palace Cinemas in major cities across the country to drive awareness and fundraising for men's mental health in partnership with Movember. In 2021, Tim wrote and produced the critically acclaimed documentary podcast THE ELEMENTS, hosted by Stuart Diver and audio produced by Gold Walkley winner Slade Gibson (THE TEACHER’S PET). THE ELEMENTS reached #4 on Apple's Australian Charts, cracked the Documentary Top 100 in the US & UK and is in development as a documentary TV series. Tim has produced award winning short films including HIGHWAY (dir Vanessa Gazy) and MR BUBBLES (dir Eden Falk) and has a background in film production and development having worked for River Road Entertainment (TWELVE YEARS A SLAVE, THE TREE OF LIFE) & Cold Iron Pictures (SWISS ARMY MAN) in Los Angeles and in Sydney for Porchlight Films (THE KING, ANIMAL KINGDOM), eOne and Hopscotch Films.
