Ones To Watch is a professional development and mentoring program for early-career screen producers looking to accelerate their screen business acumen to the next level.

Over the coming months, the Ones to Watch will be matched with a leading Australian producer for 1-on-1 mentoring and will take part in an exclusive webinar series to develop their creative slate and business skills in the lead up to SCREEN FOREVER. Each participant will also be given the opportunity to apply for the Ones To Watch Internship, supported by Screen Australia, and secure placement with a production company anywhere in the world to the value of AU$20,000.

10 years of Ones To Watch

Celebrating its 10th year, some past participants shared their successes since completing the program.

"....The Ones To Watch program gave me the confidence to take the next steps in my career and pursue my love for long-form storytelling. Since completing the Ones To Watch program, I have been a series co-writer and associate producer on the AACTA and LOGIE nominated 'The Unusual Suspects', I was co-writer and associate producer on 'Here Out West', which opened Sydney Film Festival in 2021.

I was nominated for an AWGIE for Screenplay - Best Original Feature Film and I’ve taken my debut feature film 'Tomgirl' to market twice in 2021, once through the Inside Out Film Finance Forum, and again as part of the TIFF Filmmaker Lab, where the feature was developed towards market outcomes.”

- Vonne Patiag, Ones To Watch 2019

"....Ones To Watch provided an opportunity to learn and connect with seriously experienced practitioners.  My highlight would be developing, financing & producing feature film, 'Seriously Red', which premiered this year at SXSW in Narrative Competition and was backed by icon Dolly Parton.

For future participants, I would say be ambitious but also honest & realistic about what you hope to achieve through the program. The industry is about the long game - it takes many stepping stones."

- Jessica Carrera, Ones To Watch 2018

"....The Ones To Watch program helped to open some doors and start to develop some great relationships with more experienced creatives in our industry.

Since completing the program, I have produced my first feature film, 'Unsound', now streaming on Netflix in ANZ. I’ve produced a multi-cultural Romeo and Juliet inspired action feature-length project 'Suka', and was selected for the inaugural “First Break” initiative with the AWG.”

- Tsu Shan Chambers, Ones To Watch 2018

"....Being a One To Watch allowed me to cement a great relationship with Screen Australia, elevated my profile with the ABC, foster my relationship with my one-on-one mentor and taken me to Canada.

Since completing the program, I have production managed a Canadian feature film, co-produced an ABC series and produced the short film 'Tangles and Knots' - which premiered at the Berlinale and SXSW in 2018."

- Yingna Lu, Ones To Watch 2016
